Blogger Creates the Perfect Morning Routine with Motorized Shades

Have you ever watched a movie and thought, “I wish I had that?” That’s the experience home design blogger KariAnne had when watching the romantic movie The Holiday. In the movie, two singletons swap houses (like Airbnb before Airbnb) and find love in the most unlikely places. Do you know what else they find? Motorized shades!   

In the film, Iris (played by Kate Winslet) wakes up in her new American home to discover that she can roll over, hit a button, and go right back to sleep when the motorized blackout shades lower. Talk about a holiday!   

Ever since she saw that scene, KariAnne dreamed of having that same The Holiday luxury at home. When she was redesigning her bedroom space, she knew that motorized shades were a must for her bedroom oasis.   

“Dreams really do come true,” KariAnne wrote in her blog post about her new shades. 

In her large master bedroom containing her bed, a sitting area, and a desk, she would normally have to run around adjusting window coverings to control the amount of natural light that pours in from the many windows. With motorized shades, however, she can now open and close her bedroom shades with the press of a button, with the myLink app, or with voice control.  

She can close all the shades at once to enjoy a luxurious Holiday-esque snooze or flood her bedroom with natural light first thing in the morning, so she awakens to sunlight instead of the blaring alarm clock. App control allows her to create a morning schedule for her shades that works with her routine. Now her shades can open bright and early in the morning Monday through Friday, but later in the day on the weekends so she can capture a little movie magic and sleep in.  

Since Somfy allows for control of all window coverings in a group or individually, she can even create the natural light that works best for her throughout her bedroom. She can close the shades by her bed, for instance, but keep open the shade by her desk. Somfy’s flexibility means that your motorized shades work for your lifestyle.  

Creating a bedroom oasis meant a space where this home décor blogger could really unwind. When it comes to capturing that movie magic, small luxuries like motorized shades can truly make all the difference.  

“It took 10 years to make my shade dream come true. And now? Every morning when I wake up and press the button on my remote and I watch the shades and the sunrise. It fills me with joy,” KariAnne wrote.
