Deloitte Summit
Background & Project Details:
One of the most uniquely shaped buildings in the city skyline of Vancouver, British Columbia is located at 400 West Georgia. The three primary residents of the Deloitte Summit - Deloitte, Apple, and Boston-based Northeastern University - enjoy more than 370,000 sq.ft. of open yet compartmentalized office spaces. Located in the heart of downtown Vancouver, the building is described by its architects as a “playful aggregation of reflective, yet transparent stacked boxes” Inspired by a traditional Japanese lamp, the shades when deployed at night are designed to create a glowing effect, backlit by the interior light. Each tenant also has access to localized shade control that is conveniently integrated with the lighting control system switches.
Why Somfy?
Somfy motorization was chosen for this project primarily because of its ease of integration with the Crestron Lighting Control system and the Building Management System. Additionally, because the office space will continue to evolve with tenancy changes, Somfy Digital Network (SDN) technology was used on this project to help provide scalability and future proofing without having to make any wiring changes, only programming changes.
The Team
The project is underscored by a cross-departmental effort by the Somfy North American Specifications Team, Sales Team, Project Services Team, and the Sales Support Team. With a project of this size, it is crucial that all teams are in constant communication with both internal and external stakeholders. From creating the project scope, to on-site visits, to the successful training and coordination with installation staff, all teams were involved during every phase of the project. Due to the unique shape and scope of this project, it was crucial to craft a design package that effectively met the needs of every project stakeholder. Somfy is renowned for its ability to provide the right components and product solutions to work with any manufacturer, any style, any power system, and this was especially highlighted by the project services team’s efforts in this design.
